EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the Louis Joliet memorial plaque, standing tall in the heart of old Quebec City. The vintage aesthetic of the image transports us back to a time when Canada was known as New France, and French culture thrived within its borders. As we gaze upon this traditional piece of history, we are reminded of the significant role that Quebec played in shaping Canadian identity. The plaque itself serves as a testament to Louis Joliet's remarkable achievements and contributions. Known for his exploration alongside Jacques Marquette, Joliet holds a special place in North American history as one of the first Europeans to navigate and map parts of the Mississippi River. Surrounded by historic buildings and cobblestone streets, this photograph captures not only the essence of old Quebec City but also highlights its rich French heritage. The city's charming architecture and distinct cultural ambiance make it an ideal home for such an important memorial. As we admire this stunning image captured by N. Carter from North Wind Pictures, our minds wander through time, imagining what life must have been like during Joliet's era.
