EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print captured by the Western Mail Archive, we are transported back to the winter of 1978 in the picturesque village of Amroth, Pembrokeshire, West Wales. As a blizzard rages on and snow blankets the ground, shoppers can be seen braving the extreme weather conditions as they make their way home after purchasing essential supplies and groceries. The scene is reminiscent of a bygone era when winters were harsher and communities relied heavily on local shops like Summerhill Stores for their daily needs. The resilience of these customers is evident as they navigate through the severe cold, determined to return safely to their warm homes. Amidst this wintry backdrop, women dominate the frame - strong-willed individuals who refuse to let adverse weather deter them from fulfilling their responsibilities. Their determination serves as an inspiration even today. This photograph not only captures a moment frozen in time but also tells a story about human perseverance in challenging circumstances. It reminds us that no matter how harsh or unforgiving nature may be, our indomitable spirit will always prevail. As we gaze upon this remarkable image from Memory Lane Prints, it evokes nostalgia for simpler times and highlights the importance of community support during difficult seasons. Let it serve as a reminder that even amidst adversity, there is strength in unity and hope for brighter days ahead.
