The image captures a significant moment during the opening of a state-of-the-art synthetic track at Monkton Stadium in Jarrow, which proudly serves as home to Steve's esteemed club, Jarrow and Hebburn. Dated 11 September 1983, this snapshot takes us back to an era when athletics was dominated by remarkable individuals like Steve.
