Members of Coventry and Rugby Korean karate clubs had a smashing time raising cash for

Members of Coventry and Rugby Korean karate clubs had a smashing time raising cash for the West Midlands Sports Centre for the Disabled. They raised 1, 218 in a sponsored tile and brick break at the Centre in Cromwell Lane, Tile Hill, Coventry. The bricks and tiles were smashed to pieces using every imaginable karate technique hands, feet and head-butting. Members of the clubs handed over the cheque to the sports centre. Instructor Tony Johnson said: " In our style, we are taught that we are all. responsible for each other and that we should help the less fortunate whenever possible. " Martial Arts are not just for winning tournaments or beating up muggers, they have a very important role to play within our communities."
Our photograph shows Mr Johnson(far right) and jubilant karate club members with their cheque.
