EDITORS COMMENTS
In this iconic print from 1971, we witness the sheer joy and triumph of Arsenal as they lift the FA Cup following their remarkable 2-1 victory over Liverpool. The atmosphere at Wembley Stadium is electric, with a sea of jubilant fans filling every corner of the stands. The victorious skipper Frank McLintock proudly holds up the coveted cup, his face beaming with pride and satisfaction. On either side of McLintock stand two key figures who played instrumental roles in securing this historic win. To his left is Charlie George, the winning goalscorer whose heroics on that fateful day will forever be etched in football folklore. With an expression of pure elation on his face, George supports McLintock's weight as he lifts him onto his shoulders - a gesture symbolizing unity and camaraderie within the team. Completing this triumphant trio is Pat Rice, another integral member of Arsenal's victorious squad. Together, these three men embody resilience, determination, and teamwork - qualities that propelled them to become champions on that unforgettable afternoon. As we gaze upon this photograph today, it serves as a timeless reminder of Arsenal's glorious past and their indomitable spirit. It captures not only a moment frozen in time but also encapsulates the essence of sport itself: passion, dedication, and unbridled celebration.
