EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print from Memory Lane Prints, we are transported back to the 1970s, where Manchester City skipper Tony Book is seen trudging through the snow-covered terraces at Highbury. The cold weather and snowy conditions seem to have no effect on his determination as he heads back for more treatment after lunch. The image captures a moment of resilience and dedication as Tony had already undergone treatment in the morning and was scheduled for another session in the afternoon before joining his teammates for training. His commitment to his team shines through even in adverse weather conditions. Following closely behind him are Ken Mulhearn, the goalkeeper, and club physio Peter Blakey. Their presence further emphasizes the importance of teamwork and support within a football club. This photograph not only showcases the harsh realities that players faced during winter matches but also highlights their unwavering passion for their sport. It serves as a reminder of how much these athletes were willing to endure in order to achieve success on the field. As we admire this snapshot frozen in time, we can't help but appreciate Tony Book's indomitable spirit and commend all footballers who braved such challenging circumstances with grace and determination.
