EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to the winter of 1996, a time when severe weather conditions brought chaos to the A62 Oldham Huddersfield Road in Delph. The image captures a haunting scene of an abandoned line of snow-covered cars, left helpless and stranded after an overnight blizzard. The sheer magnitude of the snowfall is evident as each vehicle is completely engulfed by thick layers of white powder, creating an eerie contrast against the darkened sky. It's as if time has frozen along with these forsaken automobiles, their owners forced to seek shelter elsewhere until help arrives. Hussey Dennis skillfully captured this moment from Memory Lane Prints, allowing us to reflect on the power and unpredictability of nature. The photograph serves as a reminder that even in our modern world, we are still at the mercy of Mother Nature's whims. As we gaze upon this snapshot from two decades ago, it becomes apparent how far we have come in terms of technology and infrastructure for dealing with such extreme weather events. Yet it also reminds us that no matter how advanced we become, there will always be moments when nature humbles us and forces us to adapt. In this single frame frozen in time, Hussey Dennis transports us back to a significant chapter in history – one where resilience was tested and communities came together amidst adversity.
