EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print captured by Dave Hill, we are transported back to March 1998 on the picturesque river Thames at Staines. Mark Perkins from Ascot proudly poses with his extraordinary 1964 Amphicar, a true marvel of engineering and design. The image showcases a fascinating blend of two worlds - land and water - as Mark's unique vehicle effortlessly glides through the tranquil river. The vibrant blue hue of the Amphicar beautifully contrasts against the serene waters, creating an eye-catching spectacle that is hard to ignore. This snapshot from the 1990s encapsulates an era where innovation knew no bounds, pushing boundaries in both bizarre and unusual ways. The sight of a car seamlessly transitioning into a boat was undoubtedly one that turned heads and sparked curiosity among onlookers. Mark Perkins' passion for adventure shines through as he fearlessly explores uncharted territories with his beloved amphibious companion. This photograph serves as a testament to human ingenuity, reminding us that sometimes it takes stepping outside conventional norms to truly make waves. As we gaze upon this intriguing scene frozen in time, we can't help but wonder about the stories behind this remarkable machine and its intrepid owner. It serves as a reminder that life is too short not to embrace our passions fully – even if it means driving something as wonderfully weird and unconventional as an Amphicar along the iconic river Thames.
