EDITORS COMMENTS
In this charming print captured by Arthur Sidey, we are transported back to December 1981 at Twycross Zoo. The focal point of the image is Louis the Chimp, a beloved resident of the zoo, engrossed in an unexpected activity - checking his bingo numbers! Dressed in typical 1980s fashion with a pair of reading glasses perched on his nose, Louis appears both sophisticated and mischievous. With pen in hand, he attentively scans his bingo card, displaying an astonishing level of concentration for a primate. It's as if time stands still as Louis immerses himself in this playful game. His intelligent eyes seem to twinkle with excitement as he eagerly awaits each number call. The juxtaposition between human-like behavior and animal instincts is truly captivating. This endearing snapshot reminds us that even our closest relatives share moments of leisure and amusement akin to our own pastimes. Arthur Sidey skillfully captures this extraordinary scene from within the confines of Twycross Zoo, offering us a glimpse into the rich inner world of these fascinating creatures. As we gaze upon this remarkable photograph, we can't help but wonder what other surprises lie behind those enclosures – perhaps more hidden talents waiting to be discovered among our fellow inhabitants on Earth.
