EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we are transported back to the historic day of June 6th, 1957, when Princess Margaret graced Coventry with her presence. The image captures a significant moment as the Princess explores the construction site for the new Coventry Cathedral, which is being erected on the hallowed grounds where its predecessor once stood before succumbing to devastating bombings during World War II. Accompanied by Alderman Mrs Pearl Hyde and Coventry Cathedral Provost The Very Rev. RT Howard, Princess Margaret can be seen pointing out various points of interest within the vast building site. Her elegant stature and regal demeanor shine through as she engages in conversation with those around her. This photograph not only commemorates a royal visit but also symbolizes hope and resilience in the face of adversity. It serves as a poignant reminder of how communities come together to rebuild after tragedy strikes. Princess Margaret's presence signifies support for Coventry's efforts to rise from its ashes and create something beautiful amidst ruins. Ellman's expert eye has captured this historical moment with remarkable clarity, allowing us to relive an era long gone. As we gaze upon this image from Memory Lane Prints, we cannot help but feel inspired by both the strength exhibited by Coventry's citizens and the grace exuded by Princess Margaret herself.
