EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print by Freddie Reed, we are transported back to the vibrant streets of Rio De Janeiro in May 1970. Paddy Hopkirk, sporting a crisp white outfit, stands alongside his co-driver Tony Nash as they take a leisurely stroll along the picturesque beachfront. The sun casts a gentle glow on their faces, capturing a moment of respite from the intensity of their racing careers. However, it is not just Hopkirk and Nash who steal the spotlight in this image. In the background, we catch sight of their third driver Neville Johnston engaging in an extraordinary display of talent - walking on his hands! With remarkable balance and strength, Johnston defies gravity as he effortlessly traverses the sandy shores upside down. This snapshot encapsulates both fun and camaraderie among these racing legends during their downtime. It showcases not only their shared passion for motorsports but also highlights each individual's unique skills outside the racetrack. Reed's lens captures a fleeting moment that immortalizes these men at play amidst their high-octane lives. As we gaze upon this photograph from Memory Lane Prints' collection, we can't help but feel drawn into this nostalgic era where joyous moments like these were cherished forever.
