EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print from Memory Lane Prints, we are transported back to the enchanting Alnwick Music Festival in August 1997. The image captures a serene moment as the first arrivals for the festival find respite on the lush green lawn of Alnwick Castle. It is a scene filled with anticipation and excitement, as participants eagerly await the start of what promises to be a memorable event. The focus of this particular snapshot lies on two individuals who exude grace and cultural richness. Inga Miskinyte and Ruta Kryzeviciute, members of Lithuania's esteemed folk dance group Grandinele, can be seen seated side by side. Their vibrant costumes reflect their heritage and add an extra layer of color to the already picturesque setting. As they relax amidst the castle's grandeur, one can almost hear snippets of lively music floating through the air – a prelude to days filled with joyous dances and melodic tunes that will soon fill every corner of Alnwick. This photograph not only captures a moment frozen in time but also serves as a reminder of how festivals like these bring people together from different corners of the world, united by their love for music and celebration. It encapsulates an era when fairs were cherished occasions for leisurely enjoyment, where cultures intertwined harmoniously under one roof. NCJ has masterfully captured this slice of history through his lens, allowing us all to relish in its beauty decades later.
