EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print from August 1974, we catch a glimpse of the legendary composer Rick Wakeman in an unexpected setting - having his hair cut. Known for his mesmerizing music and flamboyant stage presence, Wakeman's larger-than-life persona is beautifully juxtaposed with the mundane act of getting a trim. As he sits comfortably in the barber's chair, surrounded by mirrors and vintage barbershop decor, one can't help but wonder what thoughts are running through Wakeman's mind. Is he contemplating his next musical masterpiece or simply enjoying a momentary escape from the whirlwind of fame? The image exudes an air of mystery and intrigue. The photograph captures not only Wakeman's iconic long locks being carefully tended to but also showcases the vibrant spirit of the 1970s entertainment scene. It serves as a reminder that even amidst all the glitz and glamour, artists like Wakeman still find time for everyday rituals. With its subtle touch of humor, this snapshot immortalizes a candid moment that reveals another side to Rick Wakeman - one that goes beyond his musical genius.
