EDITORS COMMENTS
The Birdmen: Leaping from an aircraft, 12,000ft up, is the sort of thing few people would contemplate. But to the 'Falcons', R. A. F. Parachute display team, it is just part of their job. In this print from Memory Lane Prints, we are transported back to the exhilarating world of aviation in the 1970s. The image captures a moment frozen in time as three brave men prepare for their daring leap into the unknown. Team leader Flying Officer Geoffrey Greenland stands tall and confident at the forefront, his gaze fixed on the horizon with unwavering determination. Beside him stands Sergeant Joe Featherstone, his expression a mix of excitement and focus as he mentally prepares for what lies ahead. Completing this trio of fearless individuals is Flight Sergeant Terry Allen, exuding both strength and composure. As they stand on that open aircraft door high above ground level, one can only imagine the adrenaline coursing through their veins. The sense of camaraderie between these men is palpable; each relying on one another's skills and expertise to execute this dangerous maneuver flawlessly. This photograph not only showcases incredible bravery but also pays homage to the Royal Air Force's dedication to precision and teamwork.
