Ihlee Was Born In London. He Was A Graduate Of The London Slade School Of Fine Arts And It Was Here That He Was Awarded A Number Of Prizes. Prior To Moving To Collioure In France In 1921, He Staged Many Successful Solo Exhibitions In England And Wales. During The First World War, Ihlee Worked At The Westwood Drawing Office And During This Period Produced Numerous Lithographs, Most Around 1918

Bevelled wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 archival quality photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, the Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. This folio of twelve captivating drawings captures the essence of War Work at Westwood Works in Peterborough during the First World War. Created by renowned British artist Rudolph Ihlee (1883-1968), these lithographs offer a unique insight into the collaboration between Perkins Engineers Limited and Joseph Baker and Sons Limited at the Westwood Works site. Ihlee, a London native and graduate of the prestigious Slade School of Fine Arts, had a successful artistic career in England and Wales before moving to Collioure, France in 1921. However, his most poignant works emerged during his time at the Westwood Drawing Office between 1910 and 1918. Each drawing in this collection masterfully depicts the industrious atmosphere of the war effort, with workers diligently toiling to contribute to the war effort.
