EDITORS COMMENTS
This enchanting photograph, taken circa 1906, captures a serene moment at the picturesque coastal commune of Veules-les-Roses in Normandy, France. The image showcases the breathtaking cliffs and the pristine sandy beach of Le Petit Buin, a popular summer destination for families and holidaymakers during the early 1900s. The scene is filled with the joyful energy of children as they dig their hands into the soft, golden sand, building sandcastles and making memories that would last a lifetime. The gentle waves of the Seine Maritime department lap at the shore, creating a soothing symphony that adds to the idyllic atmosphere. Veules-les-Roses, a charming French commune located in the northern region of France, was a beloved retreat for those seeking relaxation and rejuvenation. The commune's name, which translates to 'Roses of Veules,' is a nod to the beautiful roses that bloomed along the cliffs, adding a touch of romance to the already enchanting landscape. As you gaze upon this image, you can almost feel the warmth of the sun on your skin, hear the laughter of children, and smell the salty sea air. It's a snapshot of a simpler time, a time when life moved at a slower pace, and the simple pleasures of family, sand, and sea were enough to bring joy and happiness.
