Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1800, Webster was a versatile artist who excelled in both portraiture and historical subjects. His career spanned over six decades, leaving a significant mark on the art world of his time. Webster's artistic journey began when he studied under the renowned Scottish painter, Sir Henry Raeburn. He later moved to London in 1823, where he became a member of the Royal Academy in 1831.
