EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases two exquisite sketches by renowned Irish artist James Moore, created in the year 1867. The first sketch, titled "Arcachon on the Loire," depicts a picturesque scene of the Arcachon Basin in France. The tranquil water reflects the vibrant colors of the boats moored along the shore, their sails billowing gently in the breeze. The second sketch, titled "Tours - Boat, Baskets, Women's Head-dresses," captures the essence of daily life along the Loire River. Women in traditional attire can be seen carrying baskets on their heads as they make their way along the riverbank. The intricate details of their head-dresses and the textures of their clothing are beautifully rendered in ink and watercolor on delicate paper. Moore's skillful use of light and shadow adds depth and dimension to these charming sketches, transporting us back in time to the banks of the Loire in the late 19th century.
