EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph captures the elegant and enchanting Ruby Ray, a dancer and performer, in her Edwardian finery. Born in Buenos Aires, Ruby was raised in a family steeped in artistic tradition, with her beloved grandfather being the late Erskine Nicol, an esteemed artist and member of the Royal Academy (A.R.A.). Her passion for the performing arts ignited at a young age, Ruby made her debut as a dancer in the provinces before gracing the stage at the prestigious Prince of Wales Theatre in London in 1904. In this stunning image, Ruby exudes an air of grace and allure as she dons a beautiful, flowing frock adorned with intricate floral patterns and delicate lace. The dress, which falls gracefully to the floor, is accessorized with plentiful feathers and a striking feathered parasol, adding an exotic and theatrical touch to her ensemble. The elaborate costume, reminiscent of the opulence and elegance of the Edwardian era, perfectly complements Ruby's poised and confident demeanor. With her head held high and a captivating smile, Ruby Ray is a true vision of beauty and talent, leaving us enchanted by her timeless allure.
