EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a glimpse into the "Pharmacy of the Future" as envisioned by German bacteriologist Emil Adolf von Behring in 1894. Von Behring, who later went on to win the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1901, was a pioneer in the field of medicine and his forward-thinking ideas are evident in this historical image.
The pharmacy depicted in this print is not your typical apothecary of the late 19th century. Instead, it showcases alternative methods and technologies that were ahead of their time. From innovative medical equipment to cutting-edge pharmaceuticals, von Behring's vision for the future of healthcare is truly remarkable.
As we look back on this snapshot from over a century ago, we can't help but marvel at how far we've come in the world of medicine. While some aspects may seem antiquated by today's standards, there is no denying the impact that von Behring's work had on shaping modern healthcare practices.
This print serves as a reminder of our rich medical history and inspires us to continue pushing boundaries and exploring new possibilities in the field of medicine. It is a testament to human ingenuity and innovation, showcasing how even seemingly fantastical ideas can eventually become reality with dedication and perseverance.
