EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases the De Havilland DH.104 Sea Devon C Mk.20 (XK895), a versatile and iconic aircraft of the British Fleet Air Arm, as it gracefully rests on the tarmac of Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose during the 1980s or 1990s. The Sea Devon, a twin-engine, short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft, was primarily used for transport and utility roles within the fleet. Its distinctive design and bright orange and grey livery are a testament to the era of aviation technology during this time. The Sea Devon C Mk.20 was an evolution of the earlier Sea Devon Mk.1, featuring improved engines and avionics, making it an essential asset for the Royal Navy. The image captures a moment in time when these magnificent machines continued to serve their purpose, contributing significantly to the fleet's operations. The photograph is a nostalgic reminder of the 1980s and 1990s, an era of innovation and progress in aviation history.
