Paris: Le Mot. 1914-1915. Bound folio with a book cover by A.G. Gonon and a book plate for H.P. Gassier (French cartoonist - 1883-1951). 20 parts, original illustrated wrappers, cover designs by Jean Cocteau and Paul Iribe with illustrations by Cocteau, Sem, Dufy, Bakst, Lhote, Gleizes and Pierre-Emile Legrain. Complete set of 20 issues, published between 28th November 1914 and 1st July 1915. Co-founded by Jean Cocteau and the designer and fashion illustrator Paul Iribe. Le Mot is notably patriotic and anti-German. Iribe contributes most of the striking cover designs while Cocteau supplies poems, articles and numerous drawings and cartoons pseudonymously signed Jim. Bevelled wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 archival quality photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, the Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
