VISUAL DESCRIPTION
This is a vintage advertisement featuring an announcement for a "WORLD RECORD FLIGHT" from England to Capetown in 8 days. The ad highlights the achievement of Mr. R. F. Carew, who flew from England to Capetown in eight days, thus establishing a world record for the flight. He completed this journey in his Puss Moth (Gipsy III engine) on October 5th and reached Capetown on October 13th. At the top of the image are two caricatured figures expressing surprise with speech bubbles saying "Crikey!" and "'Shell' again - That was!". This suggests that Shell products were used during this record-setting flight. The bottom part of the advertisement prominently features "SHELL AVIATION PETROL AND GOLDEN SHELL OIL, " indicating that these Shell products were instrumental in achieving this aviation milestone. Overall, the ad combines text with simple illustrations to convey excitement about both the aviation feat and Shell's role in it.
