VISUAL DESCRIPTION
This is a vintage advertisement for the Napier 'Lion' aero engine, with the headline "Proved beyond doubt!" The ad emphasizes the reliability of the engine by noting that it was used by Imperial Airways on their Continental service and required overhauls only every 250 hours in 1925, which improved to every 300 hours in 1926, and further extended to every 325 hours by September 1927. It mentions that some engines ran for as much as 478 hours (47, 800 miles) before being dismantled. The text suggests that considering the strenuous work of these engines on Continental services day in and day out, their remarkable reliability and long life have been proven beyond doubt. At the bottom of the page is boldly printed "NAPIER - The finest aero engine in the World, " along with information about D. Napier & Son Ltd. , located in Acton, London W3.
