EDITORS COMMENTS
Title: "The Pursuit of Love: A Cockerel's Persistent Courting Ritual," 20th Century This delightfully humorous and lighthearted comic postcard captures the quintessential British scene of a middle-aged cockerel in hot pursuit of a frumpy hen, both darting across a narrow country road. The vibrant colors and exaggerated expressions on the birds' faces add to the playful and whimsical atmosphere, as if straight out of a classic Donald McGill postcard. The cockerel, with his proud and determined demeanor, seems dead set on winning the heart of the reluctant hen, who, with a look of disdain and a feather ruffled in indignation, dashes across the road, narrowly avoiding a passing car. The scene is filled with a sense of fun and mischief, as if to poke gentle fun at the age-old tradition of courtship and the lengths that love and desire can drive us. The comic postcard also offers a touch of nostalgia, transporting us back to a simpler time, where the pursuit of love and romance could be as simple as a cockerel chasing a hen across the road. The image is a charming reminder of the humor and lightheartedness that can be found in even the most ordinary moments of life. Despite the hen's apparent disinterest, the cockerel remains undeterred, his unwavering determination a testament to the enduring power of love and the lengths one will go to win the heart of their beloved. This charming and amusing postcard is a must-have for any collection of vintage British humor and is sure to bring a smile to the face of anyone who appreciates a good laugh.
