Environmentally and ozone friendly, Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! This handcoloured lithograph depicts Ayahuasca, or Yaje, as it was known in the 19th century, specifically the Prestonia quinquangularis plant with Haemadictyon nutans var. maxima or sp. nova. The image is taken from the horticultural publication "Flore des Serres et des Jardins de l'Europe," produced by Louis van Houtte and Charles Lemaires in Ghent, Belgium between 1867 and 1868. Ayahuasca is a powerful narcotic vine native to the Amazon rainforest, traditionally used by indigenous peoples for spiritual and therapeutic purposes. The plant is known for its psychoactive properties, which are believed to be due to the presence of several alkaloids, including DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) and harmine. In this illustration, the foliage of the Ayahuasca vine is shown in intricate detail, with its distinctive quinquangular (five-angled) stems and large, glossy leaves.
