EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time with this beautiful 19th-century pencil drawing of the Blighs Hotel in Sevenoaks, Kent. The intricately detailed image captures the charm and character of this historic public house, which was a popular watering hole during the Victorian era. The Blighs Hotel, located at TN13 1UP, was originally named after the Charrington and Company Limited, a well-known brewery at the time. The main side of the print showcases the pub's impressive facade, with its ornate architectural features and inviting front entrance. However, the back of the print reveals fascinating insights into the pub's history. As of July 2018, the Blighs Hotel had been renamed the Oak Tree and is now known as the Oak Tavern & Tap House, complete with an in-house brewery. This transformation is a testament to the pub's enduring appeal and its ability to adapt to changing times while preserving its rich history. The drawing, which dates back to the 1800s, offers a glimpse into the past and invites us to imagine the lively conversations and camaraderie that once filled the Blighs Hotel. Whether you're a history buff, a local resident, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of a well-preserved pub, this print is a must-have addition to your collection.
