EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative group photograph captures the LRA Football Club, also known as LRA (Russell Athletic) Football Club, in the 1908-1909 season. The image showcases an Edwardian-era football team, with players and trainers posing confidently in their football attire. The team's uniform consists of short, tight-fitting tops with vertical stripes, and the players wear flat caps with the LRA emblem on them. The trainers, dressed in suits and bowler hats, stand amongst the players, providing guidance and support. The boys and men in this team exude a sense of camaraderie and determination, reflecting the passion and dedication that defined football culture during this era. The football, prominently displayed in the center, symbolizes the team's commitment to their sport and their shared love for the game. The LRA Football Club was likely a local team, representing a community or school. Despite the absence of modern facilities and equipment, the team's spirit and enthusiasm are palpable in this photograph. The image offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, allowing us to connect with the history of football and the people who played it over a century ago.
