EDITORS COMMENTS
This print titled "Love / Language of Legs" from Mary Evans Picture Library captures the historical and allegorical significance of body language, specifically through the language of legs. The image showcases a progression from hesitancy to confidence, with couples expressing their emotions through subtle movements and gestures. The concept of the language of legs dates back centuries, reflecting societal norms and values surrounding love and relationships. From the tentative "I am hesitant" posture to the joyful exclamation of "Better and better," each leg position tells a story about the couple's feelings towards one another. In this snapshot in time, we witness a moment frozen in history where love is communicated not just through words but through physical cues. The evolution from uncertainty to certainty is beautifully depicted in this piece, culminating in the triumphant declaration of "That's the ticket!"
