EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph, titled "La Poupee" by Ernest Hubbard, transports us back to the enchanting world of the 1920s. The image features a young, alluring woman in a slip, gazing intently at her reflection in the mirror. Her expression is one of fascination and admiration, as she adorns herself with a delicate necklace of pearls and beads. The intimate setting of the boudoir is further accentuated by the soft glow of candlelight, casting a warm, inviting ambiance over the scene. Nestled on the bed nearby, a poupee or boudoir doll gazes up at its owner with its arms outstretched, as if longing for her affection. The juxtaposition of the woman and the doll adds an intriguing layer of depth to the image, suggesting themes of self-reflection, femininity, and the allure of youth and beauty. The woman's flapper-style underwear, with its fripperies and frills, is a testament to the fashion trends of the era. The elegance and sophistication of the scene are further emphasized by the woman's attractive, yet natural, makeup and her casually styled hair. This photograph is a stunning reminder of a bygone era, when women embraced their femininity and indulged in the simple pleasures of self-care and self-admiration.
