EDITORS COMMENTS
is a captivating photograph taken in the heart of Stockton-on-Tees during the 1970s, capturing a moment of camaraderie and conviviality among three local men. The image, taken by acclaimed photographer Robin Dale, transports us back in time to an era of simpler pleasures and authentic northern nightlife. The photograph features three men, dressed in typical 1970s attire, gathered around a table at a local pub or club. John, the central figure, is seen with a contented expression on his face as he raises his glass in a toast to his companions. Dale's expert use of lighting and composition draws our attention to John's face, while the empty glasses and the dimly lit surroundings add to the sense of intimacy and nostalgia. The men are deep in conversation, their faces animated and engaged. The atmosphere is relaxed and convivial, with the warm glow of the pub or club providing a cozy backdrop to their evening out. The men's attire, from Robin's tweed jacket to Dale's corduroy trousers, is typical of the era, adding to the authenticity of the scene. The photograph also offers a glimpse into the local culture and traditions of Stockton-on-Tees during the 1970s. The men are enjoying a pint of bitter, a popular ale in the northeast of England, and the empty glasses suggest that they have already enjoyed a few rounds before this one. The photograph captures the essence of a time when people came together to share a drink, a laugh, and a good conversation, making "John Likes a Pint" a timeless reminder of the simple pleasures of the past.
