EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photograph, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, graces the Royal Cornwall Show in Wadebridge with her regal presence, circa 1982. The scene unfolds as she engages in a lively conversation with Show Secretary Albert Riddle, both of them immersed in the moment, oblivious to the world around them. The Queen Mother, dressed elegantly in a floral hat and a vibrant coat, exudes an aura of grace and poise. Her warm smile and animated gestures reflect her genuine interest in the proceedings of the show. Albert Riddle, a distinguished gentleman in a suit and tie, listens intently to her words, his expression reflecting a deep respect and admiration for the monarch. The tranquil setting of the showgrounds is punctuated by the presence of a majestic Hereford bull, watching the interaction between the Queen and the secretary with quiet curiosity. The powerful animal, with its impressive horns and muscular build, serves as a reminder of the rural traditions and agricultural heritage that the Royal Cornwall Show celebrates. The photograph captures a moment of connection between the Queen Mother and the people of Cornwall, highlighting the deep-rooted bond between the monarchy and the community. The image is a testament to the enduring charm and appeal of the British monarchy and the rich cultural heritage it represents.
