EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time to the year 1895 with this print of Aldeburgh, a charming fishing village on the Suffolk coast. The image captures a moment in history when Aldeburgh was still bustling with fishermen going about their daily routines. However, amidst the traditional scene, there is a hint of change on the horizon - a solitary bathing hut stands proudly on the beach, signaling the arrival of holidaymakers.
The juxtaposition of old and new in this photograph is truly fascinating. The quaint cottages and fishing boats paint a picture of a simpler time, while the presence of the bathing hut hints at an evolving landscape as tourism begins to take hold in this picturesque seaside town.
As you gaze upon this historical snapshot, you can almost feel yourself transported back to a bygone era where life moved at a slower pace and traditions ran deep. It's moments like these that remind us of the rich tapestry of history that shapes our world today.
This print from Mary Evans Picture Library serves as both a window into the past and a reminder of how much has changed over time. It's a testament to the enduring beauty and charm of Aldeburgh, capturing its essence in all its historical glory.
