The image, taken around the year 1902, showcases the Prince's distinguished moustache and the elegant attire of the royal family. Prince Emmanuel, born in 1872, was the eldest son of Philippe, Duke of Orléans, and his wife Princess Marie Isabelle of Orléans. He married Princess Henriette Maria of Belgium, the youngest sister of King Albert I of Belgium, in 1896. The couple's first child, Marie Louise, was born in 1897, followed by Sophie in 1898 and Genevieve in 1901. The family's happiness is evident in this portrait, as they gather together with warm smiles and tender expressions. The children, dressed in fashionable clothing of the early 20th century, seem to be captivated by their parents' love and affection. The photograph is a beautiful reminder of the close bond between the Prince and Princess and their cherished offspring. Prince Emmanuel and Princess Henriette Maria's marriage was marked by mutual respect and devotion, and they went on to have a total of seven children. The family lived in exile in Italy after the French Revolution in 1848, and later in Belgium, where they maintained close ties with the Belgian royal family. This photograph offers a glimpse into their private life, revealing the love and warmth that defined their family unit.
