Bevelled wood effect frame, card mounted, 15x10 archival quality photo print. Overall outside dimensions 21x16 inches (54x41cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. This evocative photograph captures the aftermath of the devastating eruption of Nyiragongo volcano in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which occurred on January 17, 2008. The image portrays the city of Goma, located in the North Kivu province, engulfed in a thick veil of smoke and ash. The volcano, one of the most active in the world, had last erupted in 1977, but this time the destruction was catastrophic. The lava flows destroyed homes, businesses, and infrastructure, leaving thousands of Congolese people displaced and in need of humanitarian aid. The Kivu Conflict, an ongoing armed conflict in the region, added to the chaos and complexity of the situation.
