Bevelled wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 archival quality photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, the Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! This series of illustrations depicts the jubilant celebrations that took place in Glasgow, Scotland, upon receiving the news of the relief of Mafeking during the Second Boer War in 1900. The relief of Mafeking was a significant turning point in the conflict, as the besieged British garrison, led by Colonel Baden-Powell, successfully held out against the Boer forces for over 200 days. The illustrations show the city's residents coming together in a spontaneous outpouring of joy and relief.
