EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph captures the progress of the construction of the iconic Tyne Bridge in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, on the 11th of January 1928. The Tyne Bridge, a magnificent arch bridge that spans the River Tyne and connects Newcastle and Gateshead, is seen here in its early stages of development. The spans, reaching out from both sides of the river, are supported by cables and framework, showcasing the intricate engineering involved in the build. The Tyne and Wear rivers flow calmly beneath the bridge, adding to the serene atmosphere of the scene. The bridge's impressive arches, which would later become its most distinctive feature, are just beginning to take shape. The construction of the Tyne Bridge was a significant engineering feat of its time, and this photograph provides a unique glimpse into the build process.
