EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from the Liszt Collection showcases an intriguing artwork titled "Unidentified Subject Two Falling Figures Standing Women" by Artokoloro. The piece, created between 1624 and 1663, is a pen drawing in brown ink with framing lines. It measures approximately 3 1/8 x 4 3/8 inches (79 x 111 cm) and features a landscape scene. The composition of this artwork is both mysterious and thought-provoking. In the foreground, two figures can be seen falling gracefully through the air, their bodies captured in mid-motion. Their identities remain unknown, adding to the enigmatic nature of the piece. Standing women are depicted in the background against a picturesque landscape backdrop. They exude elegance and poise as they observe the falling figures with curiosity or concern. The artist's skillful use of pen strokes brings depth and texture to these elements. Attributed to Francesco Allegrini, an Italian artist from Cantiano who lived between 1615-20 and after 1679 in Gubbio, this work showcases his talent for capturing movement and emotion within his drawings. The print allows us to appreciate every intricate detail of this remarkable artwork while preserving its historical significance. It invites viewers to contemplate its meaning and unravel its hidden narrative.
