EDITORS COMMENTS
The captivating print titled "Triumph Mordecai" showcases the extraordinary talent of Jean François de Troy, a renowned French painter from Paris. Created in 1736, this oil canvas masterpiece measures an impressive 33 7/8 x 59 1/8 inches (86 x 1502 cm). Inspired by the Old Testament book of Esther, de Troy embarked on a series of paintings depicting various scenes from the story. In this particular artwork, we witness Mordecai, Esther's kinsman, riding triumphantly through the streets of Susa. Led by his defeated enemy Haman, Mordecai's victorious presence is beautifully captured. De Troy's attention to detail and skillful brushwork are evident in every stroke. This painting was part of a larger project where he created cartoons representing the story for Gobelin tapestry works. The Liszt Collection proudly presents this stunning print that allows art enthusiasts to appreciate and admire de Troy's exceptional talent up close. The rich colors and intricate composition make it a true masterpiece worth cherishing.
