EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the timeless artwork titled "St Vincent Ferrer Preaching" created in 1665 by the talented artist Alonso Cano. The piece is executed with exquisite precision using pen and brown ink, along with brush wash techniques on buff paper. Despite its age, the image has retained its original allure, albeit somewhat darkened over time. The composition depicts St Vincent Ferrer delivering a powerful sermon to his devout followers. His charismatic presence radiates from the page as he passionately imparts his wisdom and spiritual guidance. Cano's masterful strokes beautifully capture every intricate detail of the scene, from St Vincent's expressive face to the delicate folds of his robes. Measuring approximately 5 5/8 x 4 1/2 inches (143 x 115 cm), this drawing evokes a sense of intimacy that draws viewers into its world. The lines are fluid yet precise, showcasing Cano's exceptional skill in capturing both movement and emotion within a static medium. Attributed to Alonso Cano, a renowned Spanish artist born in Granada in 1601, this work exemplifies his ability to infuse religious subjects with profound depth and spirituality. As part of Liszt Collection's vast array of artistic treasures, this print allows art enthusiasts to appreciate and admire Cano's genius firsthand.
