EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from the Liszt Collection transports us back in time to the year 1545, capturing a breathtaking landscape that seamlessly combines elements of nature and human architecture. The etching sheet measures 2 3/8 x 6 1/4 inches (6.158 cm), allowing for intricate details to be preserved with utmost precision. The scene unfolds before our eyes, revealing a majestic fort nestled amidst rolling hills and lush greenery. Its towering walls stand as a testament to both strength and beauty, while the nearby church exudes an air of tranquility and spirituality. Created by Augustin Hirschvogel, a renowned German artist hailing from Nuremberg (1503-1553) but later based in Vienna (1503-1553), this artwork showcases his exceptional talent in capturing landscapes with remarkable accuracy.
