EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the exquisite masterpiece by Jean-Baptiste Oudry, titled "Still Life with a Rifle, Hare and Bird (Fire)". Painted in 1720, this oil on canvas artwork is a testament to Oudry's exceptional talent as a still-life painter. The composition features an array of meticulously rendered objects that come together harmoniously. At the center of the painting stands a rifle, its polished wood and gleaming metal catching the light. Resting against it is a lifeless hare, its fur beautifully detailed down to every strand. Perched atop the rifle is a vibrant bird, seemingly frozen in time with its feathers ruffled by an unseen breeze. The play of light and shadow adds depth to this scene; rays of sunlight delicately illuminate each element while casting dramatic shadows on the background. Oudry's skillful brushwork brings these objects to life, making them almost tangible. Intriguingly signed "JB" and "Oudry 1720" this artwork serves as both a visual delight and historical artifact. Its dimensions—144 cm in height and 116 cm in width—demand attention within any space it graces. As part of the Liszt Collection, this print allows art enthusiasts worldwide to appreciate Oudry's genius up close without commercial intent or association. It captures not only his technical prowess but also his ability to infuse everyday objects with beauty and meaning—a true testament to his enduring legacy as one of history
