EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases Marco Ricci's masterpiece, "Fishing Boats in a Storm" painted around 1715. The artist's exceptional talent is evident in this gouache on leather artwork, measuring 31.4 x 45.2 cm (12 3/8 x 17 13/16 in. ). Ricci, an Italian painter born between the years of 1676 and 1730, skillfully captures the intensity of a tempestuous sea. In this scene, fishing boats battle against powerful waves under a dark and ominous sky. The storm rages with fury as rain pours down relentlessly upon the brave fishermen struggling to secure their catch amidst treacherous conditions. Each brushstroke conveys the raw energy and danger present in this tumultuous moment. Ricci's attention to detail is remarkable; he masterfully depicts each vessel with precision and realism despite the chaos surrounding them. The viewer can almost feel the tension and fear experienced by those aboard these vulnerable boats. This print from Liszt Collection allows us to appreciate Ricci's artistry even centuries after its creation. It serves as a reminder of humanity's resilience when faced with nature's wrathful forces while also highlighting our eternal connection to maritime traditions. Whether displayed at home or in public spaces, this stunning piece will undoubtedly captivate all who lay eyes upon it, transporting them into the heart of this dramatic seascape created by one of Italy's finest artists - Marco Ricci.
