EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the exquisite "Bed of Prince Maurits" from 1625, a masterpiece created by Jan Hendriksz. Verstraelen and Adriaen Pietersz. van de Venne. The bed itself is a symbol of opulence and grandeur, fit for royalty. Prince Maurits, who sadly passed away on April 23,1625, is depicted lying peacefully in his paradebed gown as if he were still alive. The air blows gently around him, adding an ethereal quality to the scene. The fame of Prince Maurits resonates through the trumpet held by one of his family members or friends standing nearby. This instrument represents both his noble lineage and his significant contributions to society. A group of boys can be seen admiring the prince's coat of arms displayed prominently on the bed's canopy - a reminder of his power and authority. Jan Hendriksz Verstraelen and Adriaen Pietersz van de Venne have masterfully captured every intricate detail in this photograph print, allowing viewers to appreciate the craftsmanship that went into creating such an extraordinary piece. Quint Lox has skillfully documented this historical artifact from Liszt Collection without any commercial intent but rather with a desire to preserve its beauty for generations to come.
