EDITORS COMMENTS
This print by Jason Friend takes us on a journey to the enchanting Holy Island, nestled along the Northumberland Heritage Coast in England. The image showcases a magnificent statue of St. Aidan, standing proudly amidst the serene grounds of Lindisfarne Priory. The statue exudes an aura of tranquility and spirituality, perfectly capturing the essence of this historic site. St. Aidan was a revered figure in early Christianity and played a significant role in spreading the faith throughout Northumbria during the 7th century. As we gaze at this photograph, we are transported back in time to an era where religious devotion permeated every aspect of life on Holy Island. The soft hues of spring enveloping the scene add an ethereal touch, enhancing our connection with nature's beauty. Lindisfarne Priory itself is steeped in rich history and has been a place of pilgrimage for centuries. Its location on Holy Island adds to its allure as it becomes cut off from mainland England twice daily during high tide, creating an otherworldly ambiance that captivates visitors from around the world. Jason Friend's skillful composition allows us to appreciate not only the stunning landscape but also invites us to reflect upon our own spiritual journeys. This print serves as a reminder that even amidst modernity, there are places like Lindisfarne that preserve ancient traditions and inspire us with their timeless beauty.
