EDITORS COMMENTS
This aerial view captures the ancient marvel known as Hatfield Earthworks, situated in the enchanting landscape of Wiltshire. Marden Henge, as it is commonly referred to, stands proudly as a testament to our Neolithic ancestors' ingenuity and architectural prowess. Prior to the transformative excavations that took place in 2010, this photograph immortalizes the henge in its untouched state. The intricate patterns formed by these earthworks are awe-inspiring, hinting at a rich tapestry of prehistoric rituals and gatherings that once unfolded within their sacred confines. The sheer scale of this archaeological wonder becomes apparent from above; its circular shape encompassing an expansive area that stretches far beyond what meets the eye. Damian Grady's expert lens has perfectly captured not only the physical grandeur but also the mystical aura surrounding Marden Henge. As we gaze upon this image, we cannot help but be transported back through time, envisioning ancient ceremonies and celebrations taking place amidst these very grounds. Historic England's dedication to preserving such treasures allows us a glimpse into our distant past while reminding us of humanity's remarkable ability to leave lasting imprints on our world. This print serves as both a visual feast for the eyes and an invitation for exploration—an invitation to delve deeper into our shared history and appreciate those who came before us.
