The image showcases a remarkable scene, with the motorway elegantly crossing over the River Lune, while a temporary bailey bridge for the haul road stands prominently in the foreground. In the distance, huts and a batching plant can be seen against a backdrop of rolling hills. The work on this section of the M6 Motorway was undertaken by John Laing Construction Ltd. , commencing in October 1967 and culminating in its opening to traffic three years later in October 1970.
