EDITORS COMMENTS
In this breathtaking aerial photograph by Damian Grady, the enchanting island of Tresco in the Isles of Scilly is revealed in all its splendor. Located in the Atlantic Ocean off the southwestern tip of Cornwall, England, Tresco is a hidden gem of natural beauty and tranquility. The crystal-clear turquoise waters encircle the island, their calm surface reflecting the vibrant greens of the lush vegetation that covers the land. The intricate pattern of the white sand beaches and rocky shores can be seen, inviting visitors to explore the island's diverse coastline. At the heart of the image, the subtropical Abbey Gardens, a 19th-century creation, stand out as a lush oasis. The gardens are home to an impressive collection of exotic plants, many of which thrive in the island's mild climate. The ancient ruins of a Benedictine monastery, which gave the gardens their name, can also be seen in the background. The island's rich history is evident in the ruins of the monastery and other ancient sites, such as the medieval castle and the 16th-century lighthouse. Tresco's unique character is also reflected in its traditional thatched-roof cottages, which can be seen scattered throughout the image. This photograph captures the essence of Tresco's beauty and charm, inviting us to imagine the peace and serenity that can be found on this idyllic island. The Isles of Scilly, of which Tresco is a part, have long been a source of inspiration for artists, writers, and visitors alike, and this image is a testament to their enduring allure.
