EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the majestic Quadriga Statue, located at Wellington Arch in Hyde Park Corner, Westminster, London. The image focuses on one of a series of intricate details capturing the main figure with conservation work underway. Renowned photographer Derek Kendall has masterfully captured the essence and emotion emanating from this remarkable sculpture. The Quadriga Statue stands as a symbol of strength and triumph, depicting a chariot pulled by four horses driven by Victory herself. This iconic landmark holds great historical significance, representing Britain's military achievements throughout history. In this particular shot, we witness the delicate process of conserving this magnificent piece of art. The careful restoration work being carried out reveals both dedication and reverence for preserving our cultural heritage. As layers are peeled back to reveal hidden intricacies, it becomes evident that every crack and weathered mark tells its own story. Kendall's expertise lies in his ability to capture not only the physical beauty but also evoke an emotional connection between viewer and subject matter. Through his lens, he invites us to appreciate not just the grandeur of architecture but also the human emotions embedded within these sculptures. This print serves as a testament to our collective responsibility in safeguarding our rich history for future generations to cherish and admire. It reminds us that even statues have stories worth telling if we take the time to listen closely enough.
