EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the intricate details of a corrugated roof, showcasing the remarkable craftsmanship found at Anchor Studio in Trewarveneth Street, Newlyn. Located in the picturesque town of Penzance, Cornwall, this unique architectural feature is an integral part of the artists' studios. From a western perspective, one can truly appreciate the artistry behind this corrugated-iron roof. The combination of shiplap timber and weather boarding adds depth and character to its rusty and russet hues. Each panel tells a story - a testament to years spent exposed to nature's elements. Steven Baker's keen eye for detail has beautifully captured the texture and patterns that emerge from this fascinating rooftop. The play between light and shadow creates an enchanting visual effect that draws viewers into its world. As we admire this photograph, it transports us back in time when craftsmen took pride in their workmanship. It serves as a reminder of our rich architectural heritage and how even seemingly mundane elements like roofs can be transformed into works of art. Historic England celebrates these hidden gems that often go unnoticed by passersby. Through Steven Baker's lens, we are reminded to pause and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us every day – even in unexpected places like rooftops adorned with rustic charm.
